SUVs are by far the most favourable vehicle type in Canada. Buyers are attracted to sport-utility vehicles for their versatility, off-road capabilities, and elevated drive height, to name a few. There are so many SUVs on the market today, and deciding which one will suit your driving needs and lifestyle can be tricky. We’ve completed a full comparison review of the 2022 Ford Escape vs the CR-V so that you can look at the key differences between them. These fundamental differences between these two excellent SUVs will help you choose which one to buy.
Trims and Prices
In 2022, the Escape is available in eight trims. You have a choice between the S ($30,049), SE ($32,049), SE Hybrid ($35,949), SEL ($34,779), SEL Hybrid ($38,699), SEL Plug-in Hybrid ($43,999), Titanium Hybrid (40,699), and the Titanium Plug-in Hybrid ($46,599)
The 2022 Honda C-RV can be bought in six trims. The LX-2WD ($31,470), LX ($34,270), Sport ($38,170), EX-L ($39,970), Touring ($43,970), and the Black Edition ($35,370).
Interior
Whether you’re taking your family on a road trip, taking the kids to the mall, or using your SUV for work, you’ll need enough room in your SUV to make the drive as comfortable as possible. Both SUVs can take up to five occupants, but your passengers will be far more comfortable with the additional headroom and legroom in the Escape. If you’re a taller driver, you’ll also be less cramped with the greater headroom and legroom in the front.
Engine and Performance
The Ford Escape is available in four engine configurations: the 2.5L iVCT I-4 Hybrid, 2.5L I-4 Plug-in Hybrid, 1.5L Ecoboost I-4, and the 2.0L Ecoboost I-4. The entry-level S trim will give you approximately 8.5L/100km (city) and 6.8L/100km (highway). The SE Hybrid’s engine can drive even further, only gulping up 5.4L/100km (city) and 6.3L/100km (highway). If you’re looking for excellent fuel economy, you’ll be delighted with the SE Plug-in Hybrid fuel economy of only 2.2L/100km (city) and the highway.
All CR-V trims can be purchased in a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The LX-2WD will give you an estimated 8.3L/100km (city) and 7.7L/100km (highway). Driving the LX and all other models upwards, you’ll get approximately 8.7L/100km (city) and 8.1L/100km (highway).
