2021 Ranger Tremor Off-Road Review

2021 Ranger Tremor Off-Road Review

Over the past several years, Ford has taken it upon itself to introduce new vehicles, models, and trim levels to increase the off-road capability of its model lineup. With the Ford F-150 Raptor offering off-road capability in a full-size pickup, Ford fans were clamouring for similar capability in the midsize pickup truck segment. The wait is now over--for 2021, Ford is introducing the Ranger Tremor Off-Road package, creating the most off-road-capable factory-built Ranger ever.

Everything Drivers Need

The midsize pickup truck class is a competitive one and staying above the competition is a fight. Ford has now solidified its place at the top of the rankings with the 2021 Ranger Tremor Off-Road Package and a glowing review of its new off-road attributes.

But perhaps the best thing about the Tremor package is that it does not distract from the overall drivability, payload, and towing capacity on which Ranger owners rely. This utility is still evident in the 648 kg maximum payload and 3,400 kg maximum towing capacity.

The Ranger Tremor can move easily between paved highways, winding country roads, construction sites, and off-road trails with the standard 2.3-litre 4-cylinder engine that offers 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque.

Tremor Additions

The Tremor Off-Road Package costs over $4,000 to add to the Ranger, but it adds an incredible number of features. To provide more ground clearance, the Tremor features a lifted suspension, redesigned front knuckles, and 32-inch Continental General Grabber A/TX all-terrain tires. Together, these deliver 9.7 inches of ground clearance, which is almost a full inch more than the base Ranger SuperCrew 4x4.

All off-road metrics are increased on the Tremor, including a 30.9-degree approach angle (up 2.2 degrees from the base Ranger SuperCrew 4x4), a 25.5-degree departure angle, and a 24.2-degree breakover angle. Front suspension and rear suspension travel increase 6.5 inches and 8.1 inches, respectively. These improvements mean that drivers can confidently tackle more challenging terrain while out exploring uncharted destinations.

The Ranger Tremor features front and underbody skid plates, front and back recovery hooks, rear electronically locking differential, Ford's Terrain Management System, and much more.

2021 Ford Ranger Tremor Off-Road Truck Available in Canada

Available across Canada in early 2021, the Ranger Tremor Off-Road Package can be added to the 2021 Ranger XLT and Lariat SuperCrew 4x4 models to add a new level of all-terrain capability without sacrificing everyday drivability.
