2020 Ford Ranger Reviews, Pricing, Model Information..

2020 Ford Ranger Reviews, Pricing, Model Information..

Throughout its long history, the Ford Ranger has enjoyed great success and popularity with happy drivers of this mid-size truck. After briefly disappearing from the North American market in 2011, it returned a couple of years ago to great reviews all round.

With a new model now in the showrooms, what does the 2020 Ford Ranger offer to hard-working pickup buyers? Read our review to find out.

Payload and Towing

2020 Ford Ranger Towing and Power and Exterior

Capability is perhaps the first thing to look for in a pickup, and the 2020 Ford Ranger scores highly here. Its truck bed can carry up to 750kg, but if that's not enough, slinging a trailer behind will add up to 3,409kg to the overall capacity.
There are certainly trucks available that can carry more, but few of them are in the same size and price bracket as the Ranger, making this a great buy for demanding drivers.

Ford Ranger Engine and Performance

All models in the 2020 Ranger lineup are built around the same powertrain. The 2.3L turbo engine provides plenty of meat, pushing out 270 horsepower and 310lb-ft or torque.
In all Ranger trims, the engine is paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission, along with full-time all-wheel drive.

Ford Ranger Performance

This configuration provides a highly useful amount of power for the highway and worksite, but it also opens up off-road possibilities too. If you want to take the Ranger in this direction, the optional FX4 the package adds locking rear differential, improved shock absorbers, all-terrain tires, and other off-road goodies.

Cab Configurations

2020 Ford Ranger Trims

While the powertrain is the same across the lineup, there's a choice of two popular cab configurations. At the entry level, the SuperCab seats up to four, with two doors and a pair of jump seats in the second row.
The SuperCrew ups the seating to five and the doors to four, although this is at the expense of some bed length, with only 152cm compared to the SuperCab's 183cm.

Interior Features

Ford Ranger Interior and Seats

The exact combination of interior technology provided depends on the trim level. However, the most popular features include:

- 8" touchscreen for infotainment.

- Ford Sync3 software with full voice control.

- Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto for device integration.

- Wi-Fi hotspot facility.

- Advanced navigation.

- Dual-zone automatic climate control.

Safety Features

Ford Ranger Features and Tech

The entire Ranger lineup is strong on passive and active safety features. Alongside standard features such as airbags and roll bars, active systems include:

  • Forward collision detection system with pedestrian recognition and emergency braking.
  • Lane departure warnings and lane-keep assistance.
  • Cross traffic monitoring and alerts.
  • Electronic stability control, traction control, and cruise control.

2020 Ford Ranger Pricing for Canada

There are three trim levels of the Ranger available for 2020. The entry-level is provided by the Ranger XL, offering full power and performance but stripped back
extras at a highly affordable $32,159. The next XLT trim adds more features and costs from $36,529 for the SuperCab or $38,329 for the larger SuperCrew cab.

Lastly, the high-end Ranger Lariat edition packs in all the features and comforts you could want, and starts at $42,619.
