Summer is upon us and that means a wealth of new festivals, events and activities are coming Alberta-wide! Outside the shadow of Edmonton, the Tri-Region showcases a plethora of communal fun for the entire family. Straight from our dealership in Spruce Grove, you’re close to all the action across the area. We’ve provided a bunch of event ideas across Stony Plain, Spruce Grove and the rest of Parkland County for you to create a memorable summer!
Stony Plain is your destination for festivals and live music this summer! For your weekly music mix, the Summer Sessions free weekly outdoor concert series kicks off June 20th and runs every Wednesday until August 8th. Come through in rain or shine to hear some of Canada’s best and brightest entertainers. Some of the music festivals coming to town include the Alberta Grown Music Festival (July 13th-15th) for your rock, blues and country fill, the Blueberry Bluegrass Festival (August 3-5th) has your bluegrass fix and the Stony Plain Cowboy Festival (August 17th-19th) celebrates all that it is to be a cowboy. If music isn’t your thing and you want to celebrate your love of Canada with your love of cars, bring your Ford down to the Canada Day Car Show on July 1st for a showcase of classic hot rods, pickups, convertibles and more.
For 41 years, the Spruce Grove Farmers Market has served the community with the best in homemade goods like homemade food, decorations and clothing. The market itself is located at the historic Spruce Grove grain elevator and runs every saturday until December. Taking place on August 12th, the Public Market & Rock the Art Walk is a partnership between the Spruce Grove Public Markets and the City of Spruce Grove to revitalize the City Centre as a communal gathering place. Come down to see everything various local vendors have to offer in the city around you. The Farm & Heritage Carnival (August 18th) is your source for good old fashioned family fun. This carnival has all the regular staples including carnival games, a petting zoo, face painting, a bouncy house, pony rides and more!
Throughout the rest of Parkland County there’s plenty to do no matter where you are. The Dragonfly Festival (June 22nd-24th) is your pass to a weekend of fun in Wabamun. Everything from live music, art walks, fireworks, games and a pancake breakfast are all taking place to give you your fill in the village. Come see some original small town craftsmanship at the Agricultural Bench Show/Fair (August 11th) in Tomahawk. This small community event is the chance for everyone of all ages to show their arts and crafts skills off to the public. You never know where talent may be lurking, so stop by and see all of these wonderful creations. Every year, Alberta Open Farm Days (August 18th-19th) offers the opportunity to learn more about the farming industry that Alberta prides itself on. This weekend of family activities is both fun and informational, with over 100 farms and 16 culinary events participating, there’s something for every member of your family.
